• Hapal bahasa prokem spt: Bokap, Gara Dae, Spokat, Pokay.
• Gemar menonton drama keluarga Marlia Hardi yang ada Kak Didunya.
• Stasiun teve yang bisa ditonton Cuma TVRI.
• Hapal siaran iklan TVRI Mana Suka Siaran Niaga; Produknya Blue Band yang bintang iklannya Donny Damara pakai kaos garis-garis, obat batuk Formula 44 yang bintang iklannya orang gendut mukul pagar.
• Kalau mau ketawa nungguin lawakan Jayakarta Group di TVRI, Jojon lagi lucu-lucunya.
• Grup lawak yang nge-tren di kalangan remaja: WarKop Prambors.
• Selalu nungguin film seri Mannix, Rin Tin Tin, Bonanza, Hawaii Five O, The Avengers atau Little House on The Prairie, The Six Million Dollar Man, The Saint.
• Kenal sama pasangan TjunTjun-Johan Wahyudi atau Christian-­Ade Chandra.
• Yang gede langganan majalah Aktuil yang selalu kasih bonus poster penyanyi atau gambar tempel strika. Yang kecil langganan Bobo yang ada cerita dari negeri dongengnya Oky dan Nirmala.
• Sekolah cuma setengah hari, gara-gara nonton pertandingan tinju Muhammad Ali atau menyambut tamu negara dengan berdiri sepanjang jalan Sudirman ­ Thamrin, ngibar-ngibarin bendera.
• Sepatu sekolahnya Bigboss warna hitam yang tipis ala Bruce Lee.
• Yang lagi nge-top posternya David Cassidy atau Suzy Quatro.
• Tahu bahwa musuh bebuyutan Rudy Hartono itu Svend Pri atau Punch Gunalan.
• Jajanan favorit keluarga ayam goreng Berkah.
• Ngoleksi novel Eddy D Iskandar yang judulnya Cowok Komersil atau Semau Gue.
• Sempat liat Yati Octavia dan Yenny Rahman beradegan buka-bukaan di bioskop.
• Tahu siapa Galih dan Ratna.
• Di sekolah suka ada penggeledahan tas karena razia komik stensilan dan buku porno, novel semi porno karangan Nick Carter yang bisa dibeli di pasar Blok M.
• Ngalamin Disko rumahan, pesta ulang tahun dirayakan dirumah, setelah acara makan, bangku-bangku disingkirin, biar lantainya bisa dipakai jojing, penyelenggara disko rumahan paling top saat itu Merindink Disco.
• Tahu bahwa juara dunia bola tahun '78 itu Argentina, Mario Kempes jadi hero.
• Yang tinggal di Jakarta senang nongkrong di gelanggang remaja yang ada di 5 wilayah.
• Majalah cewek yang lagi top majalah Gadis, yang sering mengadakan pemilihan gadis sampul.
• Lagu Nona Anna (Ade Manuhutu) lagi top-topnya.
• Ngoleksi kaset Boney M, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles dan Genesis.
• Hampir semua kelas di sekolah ngebentuk vokal group.
• Nyoba-nyoba bikin lagu buat Lomba Cipta Lagu Remaja.
• Merasa top banget kalau pake sepatu Kickers yang dibawah sol nya ada bulatan warna hijau dan merah.
• Sering makan rame-rame di Bakmi Boy Blok M.
• Merengek-rengek minta diajak nonton Explomo; motor yang melompati deretan mobil dan api.
• Dirumahnya ada kaset Koes Plus album Nusantara I sampai Nusantara X dan BeeGees album Saturday Nite Fever, yang ngetop gara-gara filmnya John Travolta.
• Lagi musim tawuran antar SMA. Yang paling sering SMA 9 lawan SMA 11 Bulungan yang akhirnya digabung jadi satu: SMA 70.
• Koleksi kertas surat yang kosong dan stiker label nama, lalu tukar-tukaran dengan teman sekelas.
• Harus nunggu setengah jam dulu melototin siaran iklan, sebelum Film Cerita Akhir Pekan dan Film Cerita Minggu Siang diputar.
• Indonesia punya film detektif sendiri judulnya Metro 77.
• Top-topnya lagu anak-anak yang dilantunkan Adi Bing Slamet dan Chicha Koeswoyo,
• Naik bis kota pakai karcis pelajar yang belinya sebuku.

MP Video - Who's On First?

Besides The Three Stooges, there are some other comedians from the old days who could actually play with words and be hilarious about it. Abbott and Costello had numerous word-plays in their acts that became so unforgettable. One of them was that number when they had misunderstanding between twenty-too and twenty-two. But It has been said a lot that the all timer one is that called "Who's On First". And I can't agree more.

I had it recorded on a cassette awhile ago and I played it so many times in my car until it's stuck in my memory. I lost the video of it recorded from TV when I was still abroad, but I was so lucky to find that particular segment in a their movie called Naughty Nineties I rented from a laser disc rental place nearby Pasar Rumput. And I was even luckier to find this clip in the internet. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

MP Video - The Tonight Show

This show lasted 30 years with Johnny Carson. It's true that he had over 20,000 celebrities as guests but he was a great comedian on the first place. Not only he always made great and funny comments about what went on the world in his monologue, the show also had segments which showed how talented and smart he was. Of course, he was backed up by a brilliant writing team as well. I never got tired of watching it whenever I had time (and a TV set available) during my college years.
I hope someday our own talk show hosts will be like him so their show will last long enough.
This piece shows why Johnny Carson will always be the master.

A friend once urged me to see Phantom Of The Opera. I wasn't interested in it since I had never been to opera before. But she gave a very high recommendation of it and since she kept saying that even guys like me would like it (and that she would take me to it), I finally went to the show. She was right. I did love it so much. I had always thought operas were boring that I would've fallen asleep watching it. I was wrong. I even went again for the second time just to make sure if I  had missed anything on the first time. This song was probably the best tune from it.
